Basic Rundown: -Comes from a Pureblood Family
-A lot of people know him as an investigator who works for Department of Magical Law Enforcement in the Ministry of Magic
-Except no one can agree on which office because it turns out he doesn't officially work for the Ministry
-He was basically a private eye that they would hire to help investigate stuff so he basically just bounced around to whatever damn office he chose
-Got hired at Hogwarts years ago as the Alchemy teacher, but since that class is dependant on demand he would usually juggle both the teacher job and his investigative work anyway
-When he doesn't have a class to teach he usually just spends all of his time researching alchemy and magiscience (and non-alchemy related magic too), so he does a lot of potions work too
-Has a reputation of being a really....weird teacher because he doesn't seem to care for teaching at all and sometimes he wouldn't even show up to class because it turns out he was too busy doing science or studying theories and either forgot the time or Just Didn't Care or got too upset over some really stupid thing
-Has literally disappeared from Hogwarts for weeks at a time because of a case
-SOMEHOW HE HASN'T GOTTEN FIRED YET FIGURE THAT ONE OUT sorry Walt he may be loony but damn if he doesn't know his subject
-He seems to have incredible mood swings however, because while most of the time he'll be glad to have students come in and ask about his research and is excited to explain to them, sometimes his really short temper will be more obvious and he'll just get annoyed that he can't concentrate.
-And sometimes he'll go from being on top of the world to being horribly depressed in two minutes. Usually because he was Wrong or had his pride wounded. Sometimes it'll happen in class.
-Often can be heard playing the violin in the middle of the night if he's depressed/trying to think.
-An Animagus who can transform into a mouse, but is unregistered and keeps this a secret. For those who know his logic is that he needs it to be a secret so that there's no way criminals he's investigating could ever find out. the fact that that's highly illegal is probably one of the reasons he doesn't have an official Ministry job
-Also has a pet dog named Toby with a really damn good sense of smell he'll just chill around the classroom or wherever Basil's research is it's great
-Good at charms, surprisingly bad at curses and dark arts.

On the one hand he rather likes remembering his own name

On the other hand he can't simply let someone suspicious pass by without note that would be far too painful for his own pride

On the third mutant hand he's horrible at playing dumb


So their interactions might be a little tense

And that just makes me look forward to them even more~

Actually I really do think there's potential for some interesting stuff between these two, since Candy's got more than a few skeletons in the closet that he's not gonna want a snoop like Basil finding out. Which I can only assume will give Basil even more of the urge to snoop on him.

Oh without a doubt-- the fact that Candy acts shady while being so overly cheerful will just make him want to dig out those skeletons even more, especially if there's some potential for some really sinister stuff going on behind the scenes.

So he'll probably be spending a lot of time just rooting around behind the scenes and trying not to get caught. Of course he will totally act perfectly polite to Candy in the mean time~ I didn't realize how excited I would be for this until just now eheheheh
